Products NILA\u00ae- Plast and NILA\u00ae- Spray not affected by titanium dioxide CLP Regulation \u2013 no hazard labelling necessary<\/h1><\/div>

On 4 October 2019, the EU Commission decided in an amendment to the CLP Regulation (14th ATP) that powdered titanium dioxide and all powdered products containing at least one percent titanium dioxide particles of 10 \u00b5m or smaller in size are to be classified as category 2 carcinogens (\u201csuspected of causing cancer by inhalation\u201d).<\/p>\n

This amendment was published in the EU Official Journal on 18 February 2020 as Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020\/217 and thus entered into force on 9 March 2020. Implementation of the ordinance will become mandatory on 01 October 2021, following an 18-month transition period. The regulation also applies to road marking materials, but not to liquids and solids.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the special production method used by the dga group in the manufacture of road markings \u2013 this deviating from the usual process \u2013 our NILA\u00ae- Plast and NILA\u00ae- Spray marking materials are completely exempt from the above classification and from the associated measures to be taken. This is because we safely encapsulate the titanium dioxide in a meltable pellet as part of an additional production step. Consequently, the titanium dioxide is firmly bound at all times during use and application. Nor is it respirable. As such, it is not classified as carcinogenic.<\/p>\n

Hazard labelling with H 351 (Suspected of causing cancer) is not therefore necessary for NILA\u00ae- Plast and NILA\u00ae- Spray. Employees are thus not exposed to any increased risk when processing our marking materials.<\/p>\n
